The place has a few restaurants nearby, so parking was not bad. There were a few people during the lunch rush but there was plenty of seating inside. The pan fried pork buns and xiao long bao were ordered. For the pan-fried pork buns, they were flavorful and tasty, however, the xlb would have been a bit better if it was more flavorful in the meat and juices. I had to add some chili sauce to it to give some kick and flavor.

I liked the pan fried pork buns! The xiao long bao was ok, but I think I would get something other than shrimp for the filling. The lotus root filled with sticky rice was sweet, but I don't think I liked that combination. The lucky cat in the front is hilarious!

We took some friends to eat a late night snack at iShanghai. It did not disappoint. I am surprised at the low rating this restaurant has. Oh well, it's our gain as it's not as crowded. We ordered some of our favorites. Xiao Long Bao - (4/5). Great flavor, and the skin is thin but holds a lot of soup. Be careful. They are hot! Pan Fried Pork Buns - (5/5). The bottom is nicely fried, which gives you a nice crunch at you are eating it. Just as long as you don't drench it in vinegar. Sweet & Sour Spare Ribs - (4/5). A nice balance of sour and sweet. Some pieces were tender and juicy. Some were tougher and chewier. But, still a delicious sauce to put on rice. Fried Scallion Pancake - (4/5). Fried crispy goodness.

If you're looking for DELICIOUS FOOD, excellent XLB (soup dumplings), or just Delicious Shanghainese food - look no further than i-Shanghai in Fremont!!! Everything is just absolutely delish and you can't go wrong with anything here! It's no wonder there's always a line here and they contest you until all parties are present! My friends had a Shanghainese food craving so we came to i-Shanghai. We went a little overboard (yes -never order at a restaurant (or go to Costco!) while you're starving!!!) and ordered about 20 dishes!! But hey - we ended up packing a lot home for the next day to enjoy too!! ;) A couple of highlights: * XLB Soup Dumplings - Their XLBs are SO GOOD! We had the Crab and regular, and beats Din Tai Fung's in my opinion ;) * Fried Turnip Cake - it doesn't look like much but it is so good - packed with legit turnip julien slices and so flavorful! * Shanghainese Pan Fried Soup Dumpling - packed with juice inside (be careful when biting into it!) and it's probably the best in the Bay Area * Bean paste with Eel - Very special dish that is hard to find, at least almost never cooked things. It is delicious and so perfect when mixed with noodles. * Everything is delicious here! You really can't go wrong with any of their dishes!! Happy camper and yummy full! :)

This is strictly for their food but oh my gosh if you want a good basket of XLB's come here! I'm tempted to gate keep this spot because it's already so crowded on the weekends but I cannot stop raving about how good the XLB's here are to anyone who will listen. I actually think that these are the top ones I've had in the bay, the filling of each one is succulent and oh sooo juicy. You could pour out a whole spoonful of soup from each XLB. They have a spicy pork XLB and it's phenomenal, I would highly recommend trying that if youre okay with some spice. It's just so fragrant with the chili oil. Their other dishes are also pretty good, I would recommend their Shanghainese style pot rice, and also the mini wonton soup! We came here for Father's Day lunch and left feeling very happy and full.
